Paul gave Sharon away at her wedding to Philip, after he asked the comedian for his daughter's hand in marriage.

O'Grady is thought to have had a close relationship with his daughter, although admitting that they argued a lot.

She attended Buckingham Palace with her father in 2008 when he was awarded an MBE for services to entertainment.

Paul said about giving her away at her wedding, saying: "It was a really great day. Sharon looked fabulous and Philip is a smashing fella. They fit together like a pan and a lid.

“Sharon wore a lovely floaty pale pink dress – because she looks shocking in white. She looked like a Disney princess."

He said that speaking at the wedding was a frightening experience, adding: "I kept my speech really short. I wished them all the best and said I hoped all their hopes and dreams came true. I was quite nervous.

"I can go on stage and perform in front of thousands of people and it doesn't bother me but talking in front of friends and family was nerve-wracking."
