ULRIKA Jonsson has described her break-up with third husband Brian Monet as "torture" and said she ended up going to couples' counselling by herself.

Appearing on Loose Women today, the 51-year-old star opened up about the split, which was announced last month after 11 years together.

She explained: "All of last year was incredibly tough, every minute of every day. I was putting on a front going 'everything's fine' but it's not."

Asked by panellist Jane Moore if it came out of the blue, she said: "The last couple of years. I've tried to go through all that.

"There's always one thing that tips you over the edge. There's just a moment where you suddenly realise you can't do it on your own.

"I really believe in counselling. I have gone on my own because I felt like I was dealing with things on my own and found it really hard to cope."

She added: "You're trying to keep things even in front of the children but it's not possible. It's actually not good."

Asked if there was extra pressure this time because it was her third marriage, the star explained: "I think the first torture was thinking about the children."

Former Gladiators host Ulrika added that she wouldn't be going back on the dating scene, saying: "It feels like such a foreign thing to me.

"I've got my gorgeous dogs and my children – they come second obviously."

Ulrika and advertising executive Brian, who started dating in 2016 and tied the knot in 2008, share a 10-year-old son called Malcolm.

She also has children Cameron, 24, from her first marriage to cameraman John Turnbull, 18-year-old Bo from her relationship with hotelier Marcus Kempen, and Martha, 14, from her marriage to Lance Gerrard-Wright.
