The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown is a new series for Amazon Prime Video starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. The series follows the hilarious trio, who have found themselves confined by the coronavirus restrictions. They will feature in a lockdown special, celebrating some of the greatest cars from their childhood.

When is The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown out?

This double-bill special will follow Jeremy, Richard and James as they look at some of the greatest American cars from the 70s.

They remain in awe of the cars they witnessed on TV and wonder why they never took off in the UK.

The three hosts will get behind the wheels of a Cadillac Coupe De Ville as driven by Elvis, a Lincoln Continental as driven by Jock Ewing of Dallas fame, and a Buick Riviera as piloted by Clint Eastwood.

Taking in the stunning scenery of Scotland, they will embark on a journey in their classic Detroit vehicles.

They may be stuck on home turf during lockdown, but this trip has proven to be one of the funniest and insightful yet.

The series will launch on Friday, July 30 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, so fans do not have long to wait.

The official synopsis says: “Along the way they cause chaos on the ancient streets of Edinburgh, enjoy a hilarious, tyre torturing, high octane showdown with Abbie on the racetrack, before heading off to stage an epic Cold War shootout between the worst Soviet and American cars ever made.”

The friends later find themselves homeless in the Highlands, “but still find time to use classic muscle cars to put an infamous Pizza Express journey to the test”.

Their modified cars are then taken to Outer Hebrides for one of their toughest challenges of all time.

They are tasked with building a floating bridge across the Hebridean sea, capable of supporting them and their vehicles on “a perilous journey to their final destination.”

An official trailer for the series has been released and Richard Hammond is heard saying: “This promises to be the most beautiful drive we have ever done.”

Clarkson is then seen having trouble manoeuvring around a corner in his classic car, and an incessant squeaking noise is heard.

As they enter Scotland, the trio experience more issues as one of the vehicles starts producing smoke from the bonnet.

Clarkson is then seen attempting to climb into his car through the open window.

The series promises to be packed full of side-splitting moments, and there will be plenty of the usual banter.

James May is heard saying: “I’m not sure we are blending in terribly well” as their garish vehicles draw attention.

They face many challenges along the way, including a mission to build a bridge across open water.

As expected, it does not go to plan. The trio later find themselves left stranded out in the open as the coronavirus pandemic closes in.

Unable to stay in a hotel, they are offered no choice but to tow around caravans to sleep in.

However, Hammond has trouble towing his caravan and viewers will watch in horror as it tips over.

The trailer says: “In crazy times, your true friends are right behind you,” over a montage of the gang playing tricks on each other.

Fans are already looking forward to the highly-anticipated series, following the success of Jeremy’s latest venture, Clarkson’s Farm.

The former Top Gear star made it his mission to take over the running of Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton, which he purchased in 2008.

Fans of the series are now petitioning for Prime Video to renew the show for a second outing, following its unprecedented success.

In the meantime, they will be able to enjoy Clarkson and the gang in this new uplifting adventure.

The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown airs on July 30 on Amazon Prime Video.
