This evening saw three contestants on The Chase, Kundai, Tamzin and Andrew, enter the final against Anne Hegerty. However, there was no chance of a push back as host Bradley Walsh and viewers at home were left stunned at the speed of The Governess’s answers.

he trio went up against The Governess for £60,000 as they prepared for the Final Chase.

As host Bradley started the clock, Anne answered the questions without hesitation except on one occasion, leaving no opportunity for the contestants to push back.

Answering all 18 questions correctly, the contestants looked puzzled as they turned to each other.

“Wiped out with 33 seconds remaining. At that speed I can get another nine questions in there,“ Bradley commented, taken aback by Anne’s performance.

“27 in total that could have hit her at that speed so we’d need at least 24 to push her,” he continued as Anne appeared triumphant.

“You can’t beat that, third best player in the planet,” he added as he looked over to Anne.

Anne complimented the contestants on a good game but also said: “You can’t push me back if I’m not getting them wrong and I think I got a few right there that you didn’t expect me to get.”

Anne was referring to the fifth question which read: “Which singer played Nine Ball in the heist film Ocean’s Eight?” After a small stumble, the Chaser correctly opted for “Rihanna’.

Bradley later asked Anne, “Where did that come from? Where did you get that?,” referring to her answer.

Clarifying that she hasn’t seen the film, Anne explained: “I think I was thinking of Ocean’s 11 and I was about to pass and I thought hang on, he said Ocean’s Eight so it’s going to be a women.”

This didn’t leave any chance for the contestants to push back Anne let alone win.

But fans took to Twitter to praise Anne as the undefeated quizzer as well as her speed on answering the questions.

One fan tweeted: “Well done Anne absolutely fantastic clean sweep.”

Another added: “Goodness gracious the Governess has just absolutely wiped the floor with them 18 correct in a row with 33 seconds to spare absolute scenes.”

“Always impressive to see a Chaser right at the top of their game during the Final Chase,” a third commented.

The Chase’s Twitter hashtag was full of praises for The Governess as fans were reminded about why they love the quizzing show.

However some also accused Bradley of reading the questions slowly to the contestants while speeding it up for the Chaser.

One comment read: “I’m pretty sure Bradley Walsh reads the questions faster for the Chaser than the team in the final chase.“

“Bradley Walsh reads the questions to the contestants far too slow! And when he reads to the chaser he speeds up – there’s always no chance of winning,” added another discontent fan.

After this evening’s show, excited fans expressed they couldn’t wait for another fun-filled instalment.

The Chase returns tomorrow at 5pm on ITV.
