Clare Crawley’s latest Instagram post just added another layer to her split from Dale Moss two months after their televised engagement on The Bachelorette Season 16. Here’s what the bachelorette said about her ex-fiancé and how she’s doing now.

Crawley was smitten by Moss the moment she met him on The Bachelorette Season 16. When the contestant stepped out of the limo, the lead thought she met her husband. Then as the show progressed, Crawley continued to fall in love with Moss.
In the fourth episode, Crawley realized she wanted to end up with Moss. So she picked the 32-year-old as her final rose. Then Crawley and Moss got engaged. They left the show together.
Meanwhile, Crawley and Moss opened up about their relationship after The Bachelorette. The couple started planning a life together, from marriage to children. They also began house hunting in Sacramento.
“It’s not uncomfortable for us to be looking at houses,” Moss said on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast in November 2020. “We’re in this to build our future and build our lives — and that’s what we’re doing.”

In January 2021, many Bachelor Nation fans thought Crawley and Moss were on the verge of a breakup. Us Weekly reported that The Bachelorette alums were still together, but they were on a break to figure out the future of their relationship. Meanwhile, E! News claimed Moss cheated on Crawley with a real estate agent in New York City. But regardless of the rumors, Moss confirmed the end of his engagement in an Instagram post on Jan. 20.
“I wanted share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote. “We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time.”
Moss added, “We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself – something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another. Please respect our privacy as we work through this together.”

Following Moss’ announcement on Instagram, The Bachelorette fans waited for Crawley’s post. Many viewers wondered why the Bachelor Nation alums didn’t release a joint statement. Then on Jan. 21, Crawley shared her response on Instagram, and the bachelorette suggested she found out about the split from Moss’ post.
“I was made aware of a ‘mutual’ statement at the same time you all were, so I’ve needed some time to really digest this,” Crawley wrote on Instagram. “Speaking for myself, my intentions with this relationship have always been very clear, so the truth is I am crushed.
She added, “This was not what I expected or hoped for and am still trying to process this.”
Crawley also shared that she was “genuinely invested” in her relationship with Moss. But even with the breakup, she will continue to “show up” when it comes to love.
“2020 was one hell of a year, with COVID, battling severe anxiety post-show, balancing a public new relationship, all while slowly losing my mother. It hasn’t been ideal circumstances, but that is life right,” Crawley wrote. “I have been looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel.”
She continued, “Our relationship was not perfect, but I can say that I was genuinely invested with all of my heart. I may not have all the answers, but I do know this — I will continue to show up, stand by my word, and be committed to love.”
The Bachelor Season 25 airs Monday nights on ABC.
