Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of season three, since the show’s finale in 2019, so they’ll be glad to know that HBO’s comedy-drama Succession is finally back. The action-packed trailer which was just released, gives viewers some clues on what to expect, including a surprising new ally for Kendall Roy (played by Jeremy Strong).

The Roy family are finally back and the messy battle to become the successor of Waystar Royco continues.

In season two, viewers witnessed a major divide between the clan after Kendall betrayed his father Logan Roy (Brian Cox).

The shocking season finale saw Kendall go public and reveal to the world how he really felt about his father, calling him “a malignant presence, a bully, and a liar.”

He also disclosed he had documents to prove Logan was fully aware of the malpractices and cover-ups implemented on his cruise lines.

The explosive trailer features a clip of all the siblings in a room seemingly trying to understand why Kendall decided to go public.

To which is confesses: “He’s our dad but he was gonna send me to jail, he’d do the same to all of us.”

This came after Logan asked Kendall to take the fall for the cruise line sex scandals after it was revealed at court that women were being forced to perform sexual acts in exchange for their employment contract being renewed.

The family patriarch called it a “blood sacrifice” which meant one of his children with importance to the company would have to be jailed.

This meeting the siblings had seemed to be the determining factor for who they would side with.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Logan asks his daughter Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy (Sarah Snook) if she was part of the family or not, in what looked like an attempt to force her to side with him.

She could also be heard speaking to Kendall saying: “If I back you against dad, you would need to let me take over.”

It appears as though in the upcoming season, each sibling wants to find out what they could personally gain before choosing sides and in Shiv’s case, she wants to take over the company.

By stating her condition, it shows that she’s definitely toying with the idea of having power and control.

This whole battle started when the family learned Logan would be indefinitely stepping down as CEO of Waystar Rayco.

The multi-million dollar company is the fifth largest media conglomerate in the world.

Despite Kendall being the apparent heir of Waystar Rayco, the other siblings raised their game to convince their father to change the way he chose his successor.

With Shiv potentially siding with Kendall against Logan, could she finally gain the much-desired prominence in her brother’s attempt to outdo their father?

Fans will have to wait until the release of season three to find out, thankfully it will be airing later this year on HBO.

All episodes of Succession is available to stream on HBO.
