Nicola Adams and Katya Jones blew Strictly Come Dancing viewers away with their routine as the first same-sex pairing while Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse brought the sunshine and a smile to the judges’ faces. However, fans are certain Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez will lift the Glitterball Trophy after they watched their Samba.

The pair’s incredibly fast and energetic routine left the judges blown away and they received close to top marks in week one.

Dressed in a hot pink outfit, Maisie oozed confidence as she showcased her moves on the dance floor.

After their performance, head judge Shirley Ballas commented: “An absolute firecracker, you’ve really brought some Brazil to this ballroom this evening.

“I love we had eight different timings in the Samba and you brought them all.

“You push yourself, you challenged on the end, absolutely fabulous, well done, greatly enjoyed it!”

Motsi Mabuse added: “Girl power! You got us up, we were dancing with you.

“Honestly this was a start, it was a bam! I have to say, what I loved, what I really loved was all those shaking things, they seemed so authentic.”

“I’m going crazy here,” Motsi added.

However Craig didn’t agree completely as he noted it needed some work but was otherwise “amazing”.

The pair received a score of 24 points out of 30.

The scores came as little surprise to viewers at home with many predicting she is already the winner of this year’s series.

Taking to Twitter to predict she would win, one viewer posted: “Maisie has smashed it omg that’s my winner right there #Strictly.”

Another added: “#Strictly WOW! Maisie was amazing! Winner right there. Got my vote! Love the salsa.”

“Maisie, 2020 #Strictly winner right there!” a third guessed.

Someone else tweeted: “So Maisie is the clear winner, and the competition has barely started #Strictly.”

A fifth continued: “Maisie this years winner. U can already tell #Strictly.”

EastEnders actress Maisie is the favourite to lift the Glitterball Trophy this year.

Her odds of winning with professional partner Gorka Marquez are priced at 15/8.

Will she follow in the footsteps of fellow soap star Kelvin Fletcher who won last year with Oti Mabuse?

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday on BBC One.
