SHERWOOD viewers were left seriously distracted by a 'unrecognisable' BBC star after their dramatic transformation.

Last night saw the third instalment of the new six-part drama.

Sherwood follows the story of DCS Ian St Clair and his team try and solve the link between two killings in Nottinghamshire.

The fictional crime drama is inspired by two real murders, which both took place within weeks of each other in 2004.

Monday night's episode saw actor Stephen Tompkinson make an appearance as Warnock, a miner who was pals with Gary Jackson.

The star looked completely different as he rocked grey long curly hair, rather than his usual short do, and facial hair.
