Sarah Ferguson calls Prince Andrew a ‘good, kind man’

Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson divorced him in 1996 following a split in 1992.

The Duchess of York appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to discuss her upcoming book and all things Royal Family.

When asked about Prince Andrew and the controversy surrounding his legal battle, Sarah explained he should be allowed to move on with his life.

Elaborating, she detailed some advice she had given him.

She recalled: “I said definitely talk more to the pilgrim bandits, who are this extraordinary group of veterans, SAS veterans, that are amputees or that have been through really, really difficult times.

“One of them got a Victoria Cross from his work in Afghanistan and fighting for the nation.”

She continued: “And I think it’s very important for people out there to focus on what you can do to bring others a bit of joy that are in less fortunate positions than yourself.

“And with Prince Andrew, he was always such a good man.”

Paying tribute to her ex-husband, she emphasised again: “He is a kind, good man.

“And I think the spotlight needs to come off him and to let him get on with his life and rebuild.”

In an interview on This Morning last month, Sarah gave similar sentiments as she talked about “standing by” Prince Andrew.

Addressing her daughters, she said on March 30: “Beatrice, Eugenie, and I are a family unit.

“My girls stand for service, they stand for holding and maintaining very, very hard jobs and they’re mothers.

“And they’re public figures, they’re extraordinary examples of princesses out in service, which is what their grandmother taught them.”

She continued: “I think the York family’s unit symbolises kindness and no judgment to make people sit up and go, ‘Stop,’ walk forward as a unit.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
