Strictly Come Dancing is back on BBC One on Saturday and Ellie Taylor is preparing to impress the judges with her partner, Johannes Radebe. They were at the bottom of the leaderboard following Blackpool Week but were saved by the public. Professional dancer Gary Edwards told Express.co.uk why he feels she avoided the bottom two.
Ellie and Johannes clearly won over the hearts of the nation with their American Smooth to You’re My World by Cilla Black.
The comedian said she loved dressing up in a beautiful gown for the sweet and sophisticated number.
She scored a total of 31 points, leaving her at the bottom of the leaderboard behind Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima.
The star may have feared she would be in the dance-off, but dancing expert Gary Edwards explained why he feels she has won over the public.
He told Express.co.uk: “With Johannes, he’s my favourite pro on the show and he can make pretty much anyone look good.
“If you put her with anyone else, she’s a goner, but I’m assuming she’s got support from the audience.
“That was the weaker performance for me in all levels.
“Johannes does such an amazing job with her, lifting her when needed.
“When it comes to footwork he actually helps her look as if she has got good feet when she hasn’t.
“He’s manipulating what she’s doing with her weight.”
Despite the criticism, he did say Ellie showed signs of improvement from the previous week.
He said: “I thought they all upped their game for Blackpool, there isn’t one who had a bad week.
“Far from it, overall it was a great week.” But he still pointed out some foot errors the judges failed to pick up on during Ellie’s dance.
He added: “She was coming down on a flat foot repeatedly and it was only because Johannes was stopping her from doing the wrong footwork very cleverly.

“It should be something the judges are commenting on.
“At this point, she is safe because of Johannes, she looks airborne sometimes and coming down on a flat foot so many times…Johannes makes her look better.”
Following Blackpool, Ellie took to Instagram to thank her fans for their ongoing support.
She said: “Errrrrrr WHAT??? Through to week flipping 10!!!!!???
“Absolutely blindsided by the love people have shown us. Thank you for supporting our silly gorgeous partnership and this *brace for cliché* wild magical journey.
“I am so grateful to get another week to work really bloody hard with this wonderful man (and Bev the Tamagotchi of course – there are three people in this marriage now…). [Sic]
Johannes has shown nothing but support for his partner, calling her “phenomenal”.
In a separate post, he said: “This partnership has been beautiful for me in many ways.
“I feel your courage and determination and I have never laughed so much, and of course, laughter is the best medicine.”
