Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is on the warpath in EastEnders this festive season, infuriated by Alfie Moon’s (Shane Richie) constant presence in his life.

Alfie, as viewers know, is on a mission to win back Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) affection, despite Kat having made it explicitly clear that she’s with Phil now.

Phil’s extended absence from the Square, however, has saw the old flames grow closer, and the hard-man is less than pleased to find out that Alfie has firmly got his feet under the table at 55 Victoria Road.

Alfie stands up to Phil, refusing to be pushed around by him, and as Christmas Day arrives, the market trader makes it his plan to create holiday magic for Kat and the kids – by dressing up as Santa and abseiling from the roof.

Oh boy.

In typical Alfie fashion, the mission doesn’t exactly go as planned. Phil, meanwhile, is fuming to learn from Bert that Kat has agreed to allow her ex to stay put until the New Year.

The gangster heads out in a rage and sees Alfie up on the roof, but just what has he got in store for his love rival?

That remains to be seen.

Kat, meanwhile, invites Alfie back in, but there’s more trouble on the cards as Phil finds out about what’s been going on while he’s been away.

Is the truth about the missing £30,000 out?

That certainly seems to be the case as subsequent scenes see Phil disappear, as Kat desperately tries to find out what’s going on. Sam (Kim Medcalf) locates her brother at Peggy’s but she’s shocked by what she finds.

Despite her former rivalry with Kat, Sam encourages Phil to give things another go with her. But there is more trouble ahead as Kat is forced to admit to Phil that she mouthed off about what is going on – and people may have overheard.

But what exactly has she ‘mouthed off’ about?

What’s more, has she blown his plan?

The New Year sees Phil in good spirits – that is, until something ruins his mood, leaving the hard-man issuing someone with a serious threat, and subsequent scenes will see him double-crossed – but by who?
