Ozark fans are introduced to the quick-thinking and intelligent methods of Marty Byrde (played by Jason Bateman) from the very first episode of season one on Netflix. Marty managed to smooth-talk his way out of certain death at the hands of cartel honcho Del (Esai Morales) and convinced him to continue letting the businessman launder money from the Ozarks.

WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Ozark.

Ever since, life has been anything but plain sailing for Marty and wife Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney).

Upon arriving in the Ozarks in season one, the two soon found themselves at the centre of a turf war with drug dealers, the Snells.

Jacob (Peter Mullan) and Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) had built quite the empire for themselves in the remote location before the Byrdes moved to town.

Their ruthlessness and terrifying nature came to the forefront throughout but none more so than when Darlene decided to kill Del in front of Marty.

Marty’s negotiation skills came into play once again as he managed to convince the Navarro Cartel to continue their business in the Ozarks, despite the “disappearance” of Del.

However, now the cartel had eyes in the Ozarks in the form of wicked lawyer Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer).

All the while, Marty had eyes from the FBI on his trail too thanks to agent Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner).

Marty still managed to make it to the end of the second season alive and not behind bars thanks to his meticulous and, at times, murderous, handling of the empire.

The same couldn’t be said for Petty, however, who was brutally killed in the season two finale by Cade Langmore (Trevor Long).

There was still no respite for Marty, however, as agent Maya Miller (Jessica Frances Dukes) arrived in the Ozarks in season three to take a closer look at Marty’s books.

This whole time, Marty had been cleaning money through a number of businesses, from a funeral home to a strip club and the Blue Cat Lodge to casinos.

With such scrutiny being paid and such a sheer volume of data to keep under wraps, fans would be forgiven for expecting Marty to use the most sophisticated of technology to keep his books.

However, this doesn’t appear to be the case and a handful of fans have picked up on it.

Numerous times throughout the series, fans catch a glimpse at Marty’s computer screen and a peek into the high-tech documents he must be compiling.

However, it’s within these glimpses that a slight error may have occurred.

On Twitter, one fan pointed out: “Ozark on Netflix has a plot hole.

  • Ozark season 4 Netflix release date: Will there be another series?

“Marty Byrde is allegedly a financial mastermind, but he’s running Excel in a Mac.

“Everyone knows Excel is unusable, unstable, and not as functional on a Mac.”

Surely a man of Marty’s tech know-how would only be using the most reliable resources for his work?

Considering its importance and sensitivity, it’s unlikely Marty would operate using unreliable programmes.

Ozark is available to stream on Netflix now.
