Caitriona Balfe stepped away from her role as Claire Fraser to lend her voice on BBC Sounds. The Outlander star was showered with praise and support as she shared her rendition of what she described as a “haunting poem.”
Caitriona shot to fame after she landed on Starz as Claire Fraser on its hit romance drama Outlander.
Viewers became in awe of the character as they watched her mysteriously time travel from 1945 to 1743 and manoeuvre through the multiple challenges it came with.
With season seven currently in production, fans are eagerly awaiting its release to find out Claire’s fate after she was wrongfully arrested for murder.
Thankfully for fans, the actress took to Twitter and shared her latest project, which was met with a frenzy of excitement.
Caitriona tweeted: “I had the pleasure of reading this haunting poem by Eugene O’Hare for @BBCRadio4 – Hope you enjoy. X
“The Poet and the Echo – The Night Is Darkening Round Me – BBC Sounds.”
Fans took to the comments to praise the actress and they shared their reaction to the poem.

The poem was written by Emily Brontë, who was inspired by Eugene O’Hare’s “captivating story.”
BBC Sounds synopsis read: “Linda’s on a cliff-side walk with her partner when she slips, falls and finds herself caught in a fragment of time.”
Caitriona recently sent her co-star Keith Fleming a sweet message of support ahead of his new role on stage.
Keith starred on Outlander as Lesley from season three until his character’s death in season four.
He was a close companion of Claire and her husband Jamie Fraser (San Heughan) and met his death trying to protect them.
The actor took to social media to retweet the trailer for his upcoming appearance in the theatre production of James IV.
As well as messages of support from fans, Caitriona tagged the actor’s personal account and commented: “Break a leg.”
Outlander seasons 1-6 are available on Starz in the US and on Lionsgate+ in the US
