What's your favourite Christmas movie?
Some people love It's a Wonderful Life or Home Alone, while others prefer to watch Die Hard.
Though it's clear plenty of people out there are big fans of the 2000 festive film, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen.
That's because a number of Twitter users have claimed they tried to watch the movie on Netflix December 1, only to find that the Christmas classic was no longer available on the streaming platform.
Understandably, this sparked outrage, with many complaining about the situation on social media.
One person said: "Netflix took the Grinch off today. I watched it last night. It's my favourite film of all time right, but today is the first of December and they took the Grinch off."
Another user asked: "How is it that I pay for FIVE different streaming services and not one of them has the Grinch available in December???"
A third person claimed her kids were crying because they couldn't watch the movie.
She wrote: "Imagine channeling your inner Scrooge and ruining Christmas by taking the Grinch off your platform… Thanks @NetflixUK kids crying."
Someone else added: "@NetflixUK How come you guys have taken the Grinch off Netflix on the 1st December? It was on there yesterday. I don't think the Grinch stole Christmas, you guys have."
According to a post on the site What's On Netflix, shared on November 25, How the Grinch Stole Christmas was scheduled to leave Netflix UK today.
Netflix's Help Centre has a whole section explaining why a movie may leave the site.
It reads: "Netflix licenses TV shows and movies from studios and content providers around the world, and those licenses can expire if we don't renew them.
"Though we strive to keep the content you want to see, we acquire licensing rights for TV shows and movies for a certain period of time – not indefinitely – so some titles do leave Netflix.
"If a TV show or movie you love is leaving, it indicates that our licensing agreement with the content provider is about to end.
"Whenever a TV show or movie is expiring, we evaluate whether or not to renew it using the same criteria we apply to potential new content. We consider factors like are the rights to renew the licensing to stream still available? What is the popularity and cost of a particular title? Are there other seasonal or localized factors?"
Netflix also lets people know when a movie or show is leaving, by sharing an expiration date on the title. They do this so viewers "don't miss out on great content".
To see if any of your other favourite films are leaving soon, simply check the details page of the movie.
You may also see an expiring content notification during the first few seconds of playback on netflix.com.
Mirror Online have contacted Netflix for further comment.
