Money Heist: Fans believe Tatiana is key in series five events

The fourth season of Money Heist saw former police inspector Raquel Murillo, now known as Lisbon (played by Itziar Ituño), enter the Bank of Spain as the latest heist was thrown into jeopardy. However, fans are certain she will betray the gang rather than helping them to escape as they spotted several major clues about her true intentions.

Lisbon is probably one of the most intriguing characters in Money Heist.

Starting off in season one as the gang’s arch nemesis as the inspector of the National Police Corps who was put in charge of the case of the heist at the Royal Mint of Spain, she joined the gang in season three after falling in love with The Professor (Álvaro Morte) and following him to a remote island in the Philippines.

However she was later caught by the police while remotely controlling the operations for the Bank of Spain heist with The Professor, who later believed she had been killed.

Grieving her loss, The Professor declared war on the Spanish authorities, kicking off the events of season four.

While spending almost all of the last season in police custody, Lisbon did not budge to the pressure of betraying her group to help her former colleagues.

After she was broken out of prison and sent into the bank, most viewers believed her loyalties to be residing with the right people.

However some fans now think by entering the bank, Lisbon will not assist the robbers but will in fact betray them.

Reddit user avnturakk theorised: “In part 3, when Tokyo meets Lisbon on Professor’s Island, she tells the professor directly that people like Lisbon never switch sides just once. I think this sentence can apply. Of course, that’s not all.

“Lisbon is linked to practically no one from the gang (except the professor). Why do we keep seeing Ángel often when there is no valid reason to make him participate in the series again (outside my theory).”

They went on to add: “Why bring Lisbon back to the bank (except to take the chef’s place, but you have to see palermo lol), send Marseille to the bank would have been much more logical and leave Lisbon and the professor together.

“For screenwriters, sending Lisbon to the bank is a better way to have more possibilities for making drafts. Also note that for 4 seasons of the casa de papel we have never had to deal with the theme of a traitor, so it could be possible that this happens in part 5.

“The Professor also tells Lisbon during an argument that she is doing this only to take revenge for recent police behaviour and not to help the gang.”

The fan went on to note that Lisbon’s only connection to the gang is The Professor – and his fate is currently in the hands of Inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri).

Fans know Alicia is furious she has lost her job due to The Professor’s actions and is out for revenge. She was last seen holding a gun to his head.

Meanwhile, it’s possible Lisbon could be convinced to betray the gang by Ángel, who has popped up several times.

Another fan replied to the theory stating Lisbon has already tried to betray The Professor before in season four.

They posted: “In a way she was ready to betray him but he managed to stop her. And secondly I can’t imagine the Professor having an affair with a heavily pregnant woman who is mourning her husband whom he doesn’t even like nor can I imagine the same woman having an affair with him.

“This would be true even if Lisbon betrayed him or if wasn’t in his life. Overall the gang members are loyal to the Professor.

“That he commands their loyalty is an important aspect of the show.”

Money Heist Part 4 is available to stream on Netflix.
