Alicia Sierra (played bu Najwa Nimri) is probably one of the most ruthless villains Netflix has seen in a long while. Brought in by the Spanish police to help with the Money Heist gang’s robbery at the Bank of Spain in season three, she has since captured and tortured both her predecessor Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituño) aka Lisbon as well as Rio (Miguel Herrán).

Because of her drastic law enforcement measures she has since been let go.

But not content with letting the police deal with the robbers, she tracked the Professor (Álvaro Morte) down herself and pointed a gun at him in season four.

Fans have been speculating for months about what will become of Alicia now that she is not with the police.

Will she take her chance and kill the Professor or will she follow in Raquel’s footsteps and join the robbers?

A recent clue unveiled by a fan online seems to be pointing towards the latter.

Sharing their findings on Reddit, user Tiffy00 posted a series of side by side shots taken from the first half of the series, focused on the Royal Mint heist, versus the second half, revolving around the Bank of Spain robbery.

In their comparison, the user points out their sense of “déjà-vu” since it seems that many of the story-beats played out the same exact way across the two heists.

In particular, they pointed at moments when Rio questioned Berlin’s (Pedro Alonso) authority in the first heist and Nairobi (Alba Flores) questioned who put Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna) in charge in the second one.

Similarly, in both robberies, the gang lost contact with the Professor and fans saw scenes from police confirming the State Prosecutor and the Interior Ministry respectfully issue for the robbers’ arrest.

In both instances, part of the police investigative tactics was to get footage of the scene ahead of the robbery to bust the gang and both times the officer in charge ended up pointing a gun to the Professor’s head.

So if the show were to follow this theory exactly, the next step for Alicia would be to betray the police and also join in on the heist as Lisbon did.

However, while Lisbon ended up joining because of her love for the Professor, who she started dating during the heist not knowing who he was, Alicia did not have the same experience and has been actively antagonising every member of the gang she has come into contact with.

There has been a lot of speculation about whether or not Lisbon and Alicia will remain loyal to their respective sides.

Fans are expecting a double-crossing as that is something the show has not done yet and it could be an interesting story to pursue.

Some people think that Lisbon might backtrack and rejoin the police now that Alicia’s position is vacant.

Others expect her to take charge of the heist in season five now that she joined the rest of the gang at the Bank.

Alicia may also kick off the season by giving birth since she was seen on set without her signature bump.

Her character may also have a connection with another redhead lady that is rumoured to be having an important role next season: Tatiana (Diana Gómez).

Fans spotted a striking resemblance Berlin’s ex-wife and the police inspector.

Could that reveal something about who the father of the baby is?

Money Heist season 4 is available to stream on Netflix.
