Michael McIntyre says his family are the worst judges he has to face when it comes to his TV shows.

The comic’s Big Show festive special was the biggest programme on the box on December 25 in 2018.

But Michael, 45, said: “Having made so many specials does add a layer of anxiety to Christmas Day.

“A few Christmases ago the Big Show actually got the highest ratings of the day.

“But before I found out I thought it had been a disaster as my mother-in-law fell asleep halfway through watching it!”

Comedian Michael's show The Wheel has been a hit since it launched on the BBC in November 2020.

It returned for a highly-anticipated second season this summer, with its format perfect for social distancing and other Covid safety protocauls.

The show was picked up instead of Michael McIntyre's Big Show, which heavily relied on a live audience to participate.

It has since seen a number of international versions, with Michael also set to host the US version when it airs next year.

There are also versions in Germany and the Netherlands, with a version set to hit screens in Finland next year.

Michael met his wife Kitty when he was just 22, and they have been married for 17 years.

The couple share two sons – Lucas and Oscar.

Kitty's dad is late actor Simon Ward, who played Winston Churchill in the 1972 film Young Churchill.

While her sister is actress and writer Sophie Ward, who appeared in the 1985 flick Young Sherlock Holmes.

Kitty, on the other hand, lives a somewhat private life, though it's believed she works as an aromatherapist in London.
