Dan Hodges dissected the issues surrounding the Royal Family and took aim at Meghan Markle’s “cheerleaders” who he claimed are forcing people to take a side and are challenging the stability of royal institutions. The columnist grew angry at the attempts to dismantle the Royal Family and said it would take more than an interview and a few “article clippings” to bring down the “much-loved” household. While Mr Hodges had no problem with those campaigning against racist acts, he said that Prince Harry’s fuel to the “culture war” was nothing but a PR exercise.
Dan Hodges appeared on BBC Question Time and discussed whether the Royal Family was racist.
It was pointed out to him that because of the Oprah Winfrey interview there are now conversations about the Royal Family and the life experiences of those within it.
Fiona Bruce added this has “never happened before” with Mr Hodges replying: “But the reason why that’s happening is, in my view, because Prince Harry and Meghan have decided to take this sort of psychodrama that’s been playing out within their family and hurl it on to the bonfire.
“For reasons purely of their own personal PR reasons, hurl on to the bonfire of our raging culture war.

“I mean, where are we this evening? The reality is, we’ve got a situation where we’ve been told that the Royal Family is facing its greatest crisis for eighty years.
“Britain’s reputation and abroad reportedly been trashed and we’re told the countries is fracturing down racial and generational lines.
“Now, this might be slightly overhyped but the reality is given everything else that’s going on we all need this like we need a hole in the head.
“And Harry and Meghan’s cheerleaders have been running around telling us all we’ve got to pick a side.”

Mr Hodges continued: “Well I think people will pick a side, I think people are picking a side.
“But I don’t think it’s going to be on the side of those of the cheerleaders who have been ordering the British people that they have to check their privilege.
“And sign up to the idea that Meghan Markle is the new Rosa Parks.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey to discuss their personal experience with life in the Royal Family.
During the conversation, the Duchess of Sussex alleged a relative questioned “how dark” their son Archie Harrison’s skin would be at birth.
Prince Harry was asked to reveal the name of the family member who made the comment but the Duke of Sussex refused to disclose the information.
Oprah Winfrey later clarified the Duke of Sussex had specified neither his grandmother the Queen nor Prince Philip were involved in the conversation about Archie Harrison.
