The Marvel Cinematic Universe has breathed new life into the superhero genre – giving them exciting new stories which see fans clambering over each other to get to the cinema. From Iron Man to The Hulk, there are superheroes representing people from all over the world. And now, exclusive research has revealed which superhero is the top in fan’s estimations – and remarkably not all of them are from the MCU.

In a new analysis from CashLady exclusively shared with Express.co.uk, one superhero is the favourite in most countries all over the world.

That superhero is the Prince of Wakanda who doubles as a lycra-wearing fighter: Black Panther.

That’s right, T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman) is the favourite, with his solo movie Black Panther being ranked as the favourite film in 48 countries across the world, based on Google search data.

T’Challa, fans will remember, was forced to take over as the King of Wakanda when his father, T’Chaka (John Kani) is killed in a bomb attack during a conference over the Vienna Accords in Captain America: Civil War.

This placed T’Challa alongside Iron Man’s “team” in the movie, as he vows to killed the person responsible: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), who has been brainwashed by Hydra.

From this, we met T’Challa again in Black Panther, which was an Oscar-nominated Marvel movie.

The film saw T’Challa fight back when Killmonger (Michael B.Jordan,) his cousin, comes to Wakanda to overthrow him.

T’Challa is aided by his friend Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) the head his military, Okoye (Danai Gurira) and his younger sister and tech wizard Shuri (Letitia Wright.)

However, he also must unite the tribes of Wakanda, who wanted to test T’Challa to see if he is really worthy of being king.

Black Panther is closely followed in the rankings by Spider-Man, which is favourite in 21 countries.

Of course, Spider-Man has had a number of iterations over the past few years, with actors such as Andrew Garfield, Toby Maguire and now Tom Holland portraying the friendly neighbourhood superhero.

Now, with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jnr) out of the picture after the sad events of Avengers: Endgame, it looks likely that Spider-Man will take on more leadership of the future Avengers in upcoming movies.

The third favourite is Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), who was also ranked the favourite in the UK along with 12 other countries.

Her powers are huge, having been affected by the Tesseract which gave her incredible abilities.

She has used them to make some major changes in the Avengers world, and has really saved them in important moments (such as when Iron Man and Nebula (Karen Gillan) were stranded in space.

Captain Marvel is one of two women in the rankings, with Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot)breaking the Marvel-heavy trend and being named the favourite in 12 countries, therefore landing in fifth place.

Fans will be excited to see her new movie, Wonder Woman 1984, as it sees the return of Chris Pine and the introduction of a new villain, Cheetah (Kristen Wiig.)

Finally, in fourth place is the wise-cracking, irreverent mutant Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds.)

His jokes and japes have really struck a chord with fans, who have placed him in fourth after he was named the favourite superhero in 13 countries.

For now, fans will have to wait a little while to see him return, as there have been question marks over his future after Disney’s acquisition of Marvel and Fox.

However, it may mean he is brought into the MCU in a bigger and better way, as well as the Fantastic Four and X-Men.

Of course, time will tell, but for now the next movies for superhero fans to sink their teeth into are Birds of Prey, the Harley Quinn movie from the DC world, and the upcoming Black Widow prequel.
