Mark Labbett, who is best known as The Beast on The Chase, was left feeling slightly confused and embarrassed after a small mishap with his answer button. Four new contestants took on the Chaser in the hopes of winning a life-changing amount of money. When the third contestant, Kenny, faced Mark, it seemed the pressure may have got to the ITV show’s master quizzer as he accidentally pressed his button without knowing which answer he had given.

Contestants Jane, Tom, Kenny, and Katie all faced Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett on Tuesday evening in a bid to make their dreams come true.

The third contestant Kenny was up to face Mark after he managed to build an impressive £4,000 in his cash-builder.

Once Mark had offered him a lower offer of £1,000 and a higher offer of £54,000, Kenny decided to play it safe and stick with the original amount.

After getting all of his questions right, it came down to the last one to see if he would be going through to the final round.

Bradley asked the final question, which was: “Georgia’s longest international border is with what country?

“A. Armenia, B. Russia, C. Turkey,” with both Kenny and Mark pressing their buttons immediately after Bradley had finished asking the question.

“Oh! Didn’t mean to press I’ve got no idea what I pressed,” Mark exclaimed. “(That’s the) first time I’ve done that!”

Bradley revealed that Kenny had chosen open B. Russia as his answer, with a rather embarrassed Mark explaining: “I’ll say now I would have picked Turkey, but I have no idea what I actually pressed.”

Kenny answered the question correctly and went through to the final round, rounding the total up to £10,000.

“I would have said Turkey. I don’t know what I actually pressed, though,” Mark expressed, with Bradley confirming he had pressed Armenia as his answer.

First contestant Jane managed to build the highest amount on the show, which was £7,000, however she was unable to answer a single question correctly and was eliminated from the show.

Contestant number two was Tom, who told Bradley the money he won would be going towards a man cave at the bottom of his garden.

He managed to build £6,000 and again stuck with his original amount after being offered a higher amount of £40,000 from Mark.

The fourth and final contestant to take on ‘The Beast’ was Katie who told Bradley she was hoping to take her mum on holiday to Thailand if she won.

She managed to build an impressive £5,000 in the cash-builder, with Mark trying to pressure her by offering a low amount of -£1,000 and a higher offer of £80,000.

Being tempted by the high offer and after consulting with her other teammates, they agreed it would be safer for her to stick with the amount she built.

Playing for £15,000, the team chose set A questions and managed to get 18 steps in front of Mark.

They had a tough round of questions, but with five successful pushbacks, they managed to beat Mark with three steps left and won the money.

Feeling overwhelmed with their win, Katie began to cry at their success, saying she felt “emotional” and couldn’t wait to take her mum on holiday.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
