One of the most recognized actors in television has taken another trip around the sun. Mariska Hargitay, who plays the iconic Captain Olivia Benson in Law & Order: SVU, turned 57 on January 23, and of course it makes the day a special occasion to some of her fans. Not only that, but her own on-screen son played by Ryan Buggle shared a memorable tribute to Hargitay, and it’s a must-see.

Mariska Hargitay has been in ‘Law & Order: SVU’ since the very beginning

Law & Order: SVU has been around since 1999, and Hargitay has been right there since the beginning of the pop culture phenomenon. In the early days, Benson was partners with Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), and their years together are considered the best to some die-hard fans. But after Stabler’s departure, Benson really found herself and became a leader.

SVU has become a wildly successful series, and the later years have seen Olivia Benson climb the ranks from Detective to the Captain of the squad. Her name has become synonymous with the series that arguably made her career. She’s even worked as a producer as well, solidifying how pivotal she is to the show.

Hargitay is another year older, and that means the “happy birthdays” and well wishes are pouring in. Hargitay’s on-screen son played by Ryan Buggle recently shared a tribute to Hargitay, and it’s truly a sweet sentiment.

Buggle started playing Noah Porter-Benson in 2017, and he’s reprised the role for four years so far. Noah is a child that Benson eventually adopted after finding him in 2014 during a difficult case according to the show’sFandom page for the character.

Buggle recently shared a sweet post on his Instagram of images with Hargitay over the years. The first one shows two studio chairs with their names embroidered on them outside in the sun. There are a number of selfies of the pair over the years, and there’s even an image of Benson kissing Noah on the head. One of the photos shows Buggle dressed as a cop in an all-blue outfit complete with a hat and badge while Hargitay hugs him close.

There are more images of the two working together over the years, including Buggle as Noah on a scooter with his on-screen mom trailing behind. There’s even an iconic photo of the two in Time’s Square. The cutest one though has to be Hargitay, Buggle, and Brooke Shields who played Noah’s on-screen grandmother, Sheila Porter, making silly faces in a hilarious selfie moment.

Buggle captioned the post: “This is a @therealmariskahargitay fan account today! ⭐️ Happy Birthday MH! The past 4 years with you have been the best of my whole life. Can’t wait to celebrate you SO soon ❤️.”

Buggle’s post for Hargitay’s birthday is one fans will certainly appreciate. It’s nice to see these cute moments between on-screen mother and son over the years complete with a birthday shoutout.
