BONNIE Langford is a 57-year-old actress who first found fame as a child star in the 1970s.

She's since starred in TV shows including Doctor Who and EastEnders, as well as turning her musical talents to the stage with roles in Chicago, Cats and more.

Bonnie Langford (née Bonita), 57,  is an English actress, dancer and entertainer.

She first came to public attention when she won the talent show Opportunity Knocks which led to her foray into television with the 1977 show Just William.

In 1986, Bonnie was cast as Colin Baker's companion Mel in Doctor Who, a role she reprised in 1993's Dimensions in Time, a special charity crossover with EastEnders for Children in Need.

Bonnie would go on to join EastEnders as Carmel Kazemi two decades later in 2015, before departing the soap in November 2018.

Bonnie was part of Dancing on Ice's original line-up in 2006 and even competed again in 2014, however, she revealed in January 2018 that she's still suffering from the injuries she sustained.

In 2021, she announced she'd be competing in The Weakest Link Christmas Special, hosted by Romesh Ranganathan.

When did Bonnie Langford join EastEnders?

Bonnie made her first appearance as Kush's overly protective and outspoken mother Carmel Kazemi, on the 26th May, 2015.

The role was intended to be small, yet Bonnie proved such a hit with fans the character remained on the show for several years.

The former market inspector had a difficult 2017 after she falsely reported Stacey Slater to social services for abusing her grandson Arthur.

Carmel also then had an ill-fated relationship with Max Branning that ended when it was cruelly revealed he was only using her for her influence on the council.

In 2018 she was involved in a harrowing storyline when Shakil died after suffering a knife attack, and her character left the soap still struggling to get over the trauma.

When was Bonnie Langford married and who's her ex-husband?

Bonnie was married to fellow actor Paul Grunert for 20 years, from 1995 to 2015.

The two met in a musical in 1987 before marrying in a secret wedding in Mauritius.

Bonnie cited her husband's "unreasonable behaviour" in her divorce papers, which she submitted just days after joining the cast of EastEnders in 2015.

The couple have a daughter together, Biana Grunert, 21.

In June 2021, Bonnie Langford was unveiled as the Squirrel on The Masked Dancer.

Bonnie was revealed after her impressive dance-moves won her a second place spot on the show.

The actress said that she had taken inspiration from girl bands to learn the dance moves needed to impress the judges.
