Hollyoaks star Rishi Nair has opened up about the huge paternity which could tear apart the Maalik family in upcoming scenes.
Sami Maalik has struggled to come to terms with the presence of Shaq Qureshi (Omar Malik) under his roof ever since he turned up in the village earlier this year.
The lawyer has attempted to put his foot down on numerous occasions, even threatening to kick his cousin out if he doesn’t make amends for the mistakes that he’s made.
However, Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) will not hear of it and has even vowed to help Shaq out of his financial difficulties.

Fans of the Channel 4 soap will know that Shaw came to believe that Sami's dad Kashif was also his dad, and Misbah told him that this was true.
Sami, however, knows that his isn't the case as a DNA test revealed that Kashif is not Shaq's biological dad.
Speaking to Daily Star, Rishi, who has played Sami since 2018, explained: "Shaq thinks Sami is his brother at one point so Sami kind of opens up to him after a while and he feels quite sorry for him I guess.

"However, it's revealed that they're not brothers so it's a whole rollercoaster of emotions for Sami.
"He wants to be honest and tell Shaq the truth but Misbah and Verity drill into him that it's going to break his heart to find out that he's not Sami's brother.
"Sami really struggles over the next few weeks with Shaq constantly calling him his 'bro' and referring to him as his brother.
"There's a lot of guilt from Sami and he finds it hard to keep it a secret."
In a true Hollyoaks twist, Misbah is set to be revealed as Shaq's real mother in upcoming scenes, leaving the family gobsmacked.
Rishi added:"We find out Misbah is Shaq's real mum and for Sami at this point finding that out is a huge bombshell.
"I think firstly he's really annoyed and let down that Misbah didn't confined in him.
"The relationship Sami and Misbah have is open and honest and I think he's frustrated that he has to find out this way.
"He also feels quite threatened because Shaq is Misbah's son, Sami isn't and for Sami it's like is this person coming here to replace me?
"Also we've seen Misbah take Shaq's side a lot of the time when it's between Shaq and Sami, and Sami has always been confused but not thought that much into it."
The soap actor went on to open up about the aftermath of the Maalik family bombshell and if the secret will tear apart the family.
"After this reveal, he realises that this is Misbah's real son and she's just protecting him but what does this mean for Sami?
"The reasons why Misbah gave up Shaq at this point are still unknown but they will be explored.
"We're going to have a new arrival into the show that will stir up that part of the storyline. The family are confused why Misbah hid this bombshell from them but as the weeks progress they start to understand the situation from her point of view.
