The first part of the docu-series titled Harry and Meghan landed on Netflix on Thursday, and already it is gaining worldwide attention from subscribers. The show delves into the life of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the reasons behind them giving up their positions as senior royals. Here’s everything to know about Harry and Meghan, including the couple’s salary from the series.

How much did Harry and Meghan get from Netflix for the documentary?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix which has partnered with their production company Archwell Productions.

This deal is set to include feature films, scripted shows, children’s programming, as well as documentaries and docu-series such as Harry and Meghan.

An exact figure for how much the former senior royals earned from making this show, in particular, is not known.

However, it has been widely reported that the multi-year deal is worth up to $100million.

It is believed that Netflix wasn’t the only streaming giant that was after deals with the royal couple.

Reports suggest that both Disney+ and AppleTV were also trying to secure programming with the Sussexes.

The six-episode series is being split into two parts with just the first three coming out on December 8.

Described as a “global event” by Netflix, the series has proven so popular that everyone’s eagerness to watch it caused the streaming service’s servers to crash.

The first episode focuses on how Harry and Meghan first met, giving fans an insight into how it all began for the pair.

It is revealed that the couple actually met on Instagram and it was through a mutual friend that they met in real life.

They began dating and Harry and Meghan got married on May 18, in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

This initial episode soon takes a dark turn as they explain how their lives were intruded on by paparazzi on a regular basis, making comparisons to what happened to Harry’s mum, Princess Diana.

Talking to the camera, Meghan explains that the documentary is a way for them to tell their story in their own words.

She said: “Doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

Filming took place at their luxurious home in Montecito, California, so fans can have a glimpse at their lives behind closed doors.

It is unclear if their children Archie, three, and 11-month-old Lilibet will make an appearance.

Sadly, only the first three episodes have come out today on Netflix.

So subscribers are not going to be able to binge-watch the docu-series in its entirety.

Instead, they will have to wait until episodes four to six come out on Thursday, December 15.
