Halo fans have been waiting several years for new content, and now it looks as though they will be spoiled for choice. The multiplayer just released for Halo Infinite, with the campaign set to launch on December 8. However, Paramount+ is also busy developing its own TV series set in the science-fiction universe and it just dropped the first trailer.

The Halo series was originally announced way back in 2019, with development on the show commencing shortly after.

However, production had to stop due to the coronavirus pandemic, leading to the delayed release of the series.

Yet, after two years of waiting with very little information coming from Paramount, the first trailer dropped earlier this week.

It debuted in conjunction with the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta, which similarly surprised fans with an unexpected release.

In the Halo series trailer, the Master Chief (played by Pablo Schreiber) takes centre stage, getting suited and booted in his iconic green armour.

Showing the scars of his traumatic upbringing, the show looks to be exploring more of the experiences that made John 117 the hardened super soldier he is today.

At the end of the trailer, the Chief turns, with his golden visor facing the camera.

Finally, the voice of the beloved Cortana (voiced by Jen Taylor) can be heard, saying: “Hello, Master Chief.”

The show is bringing together a cast of new stars and old veterans to the franchise, with Taylor being the voice of Cortana from all the games.

The cast also included Natascha McElhone as Dr Catherine Halsey, the creator of the Spartan program that forged the Chief.

Danny Sapani will play Jacob Keyes, the captain of the Pillar of Autumn, the ship from the original game that crashes into the first Halo ring.

Rounding out the cast is Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, Kate Kennedy, Olive Gray, and Charlie Murphy will also star.

Halo follows the story of a super-soldier, the Master Chief, and his AI Cortana as they fight the Covenant for control of the enigmatic Halo rings.

These are enormous and ancient superweapons that were mysteriously created to stop an unknown and seemingly long-dead enemy.

The developers behind the video games, 343 Industries, are helping create the series alongside Showtime and Paramount+.

Steven Spielberg is also on board as executive producer with Amblin Television.

Judging from the trailer, the show will be bringing together ideas from both the old and new games.

With Keyes confirmed to appear, but Master Chief donning his Halo 4/5 armour and Catherine Halsey making an appearance, the show will incorporate many of the main aspects of the mythology.

Keyes originally appeared in Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, while Halsey debuted in Halo: Reach in 2011.

While unconfirmed, the show will likely adapt the first game, seeing Chief on the Pillar of Autumn, though it will bring in aspects of the sequels.

Halo will likely premiere in 2022 on Paramount+ in the USA. A UK release date has not been confirmed.
