ON your marks, get set… Bake Off!

Channel 4 last night gave the clearest sign yet that its hit baking show is about to return to our screens.

The broadcaster aired a blink-and-you'll-miss-it teaser showing the show's famous tent from a distance.

In it, Bake Off's instantly recognisable music played over scenes of the British countryside.

As a squirrel – one of the show's favourite creatures for cutaway shots – scampered away, the tent came into view.

The words 'coming soon' were then shown over a blue and white gingham tablecloth in the Channel 4 font.

While no date was given, the series aired in mid-September in 2021 and is likely to do the same this year.

The clip, which aired before last night's episode of Night Coppers, was enough to send fans wild on social media.

One viewer raved: "BAKE OFF NEWS INCOMING I need this #GBBO."

Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will return alongside hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, plus a new batch of contestants.
