Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray was on the ITV show for mere minutes before he made a dig at Martin Lewis – and fans were quick to pick up on it.

The host appeared on TV this morning with co-host Kate Garraway dressed in a full suit and tie, something which Martin has actively disregarded since he joined the panel.

When he was introduced onto the screen, Adil said: "Normal service has been resumed."

Kate questioned him, to which Adil added: "Yes, normal service has been resumed, I'm wearing a tie.

"I mean, it doesn't cost much to get a tie, he could have borrowed one of mine!"

Kate agreed as she erupted into laughter, adding: "He could have taken one of yours!"

While fans have also been complaining about Martin's lack of tie, today viewers were quick to dig back at Adil for his comments.

One user wrote: "Adil has been one two minutes and already making a dig at Martin Lewis."

While another added: "Adil back on the seat having a pop at fellow presenters."

However, Martin has given his reasoning for choosing not to wear a tie on the morning show.

On Monday, he said: "The tie thing is interesting because the bosses said, 'Are you gonna wear a tie, it's part of our format to wear a tie?'

"I'm not disrespectful of the programme's structure, I was on it for 15 years. Because I talk about money I've always had a deliberate thing, I won't wear a tie because it appears corporate and when you're talking about money, I want people to understand I'm not on the corporate side I'm on the other side."

He said that he would ask Twitter whether they feel he needs to wear a tie, as the viewers of the show.

Martin added: "I feel more comfortable without but if you say wear a tie from tomorrow I will put a tie on."

After the poll, it was revealed that over 80% of fans who voted in the poll said that Martin shouldn't have to wear a tie – so it looks like the Money Expert won't be adding the item to his wardrobe anytime soon.

GMB continues tomorrow at 6am.
