The cast of Friends will get to go back to where it all began. HBO Max will air a special reunion on May 27. With the much-anticipated event just a couple of days away, we couldn’t help but take a look back at Monica Geller and Rachel Greene’s exceptional home. At one point or another, every friend lived in the spacious pad. Ross Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, and Phoebe Buffay all called the apartment home at some point. Do you know their address, though? It’s probably not the address that you think it is.

Friends fans can instantly recognize the exterior of the building that Monica, Rachel, Joey, and Chandler called home. During the show’s 10-season run, the production team used exterior shots of the building in every episode. The building has become so recognizable that tour groups always include it as a stop.
So, where is the building located? The official address is 90 Bedford Street. The six-floor walkup sits on the corner of Bedford Street and Grove Street in Greenwich Village. Little Owl, a Mediterranean Restaurant, currently occupies the first floor.

While the exterior shots utilized a building on the corner of Bedford Street and Grove Street, Friends fans caught a glimpse of Monica and Rachel’s address in season 4. Ross, struggling with the idea of having Rachel at his wedding to Emily, held her invitation until the last moment. Eventually, he decides to invite her and walks the invitation to the mailbox. Just as he’s tossing it in the box, Rachel’s address is shown.
Monica and Rachel’s official address was 495 Grove Street. The address doesn’t exist on the island of Manhattan, though. The last address number on Grove Street in Manhattan is 96. Internet sleuths can track the address to the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, though. Obviously, that isn’t where Monica and Rachel live. The duo made it absolutely clear that they called the Village home.
Could Monica and Rachel afford their living space?
Friends fans largely agree that Monica and Rachel would have never been able to afford the apartment they shared. The incredibly spacious unit had two bedrooms and an oversized living and dining space. The unit also offered a balcony and an open concept kitchen. According to CNBC, if the residence were real, it would have been over 1200 square feet. Today, a similarly sized unit would cost about $7000 per month, according to a local real estate agent.
Luckily for them, Monica and Rachel only paid a few hundred dollars per month for their aesthetically pleasing pad. Their exceptionally low rent is explained several times. Monica said she was subletting the unit from her grandmother, who had lived in the building for decades. Rent stabilization laws would explain how the rent was so low, although the roommates were breaking the rules. Friends wasn’t the only show to use rent control to explain how young professionals can afford to live big in an expensive city.
