WHILE her addiction takes over her life, Leyla Cavanagh has managed to keep her turmoil under wraps.

Sensing she's not being herself, David Metcalfe uncovers her drug secret next week in Emmerdale.




Village wedding planner Leyla Cavanagh (portrayed by Roxy Shahidi) has been struggling with a cocaine addiction for several weeks.

This is despite her friend and former dealer Suzy Merton trying to get her to quit cold turkey.

Failing to give up the drug, Leyla has put herself in danger – unbeknownst to many villagers, including her husband, Liam (Jonny McPherson).

However, another Dales resident is set to find out what she's been hiding and it's none other than her former partner, David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).

Coming up, David thinks that Leyla is not being present for their son Jacob before he leaves the village for university.

In a coke-filled state, Leyla flashes cash to appease Jacob but manages to infuriate the shopkeeper.

She then regrets offering to help cover Jacob's university accommodation and things only get worse for her in the Take A Vow office.

Leyla is caught out when Kim Tate and Vanessa Woodfield bombard her with questions.

The businesswoman ends up firing her as her wedding planner, fuming, and Leyla spirals, turning to what she believes is her only source of comfort.

Unfortunately for her, David catches her, flustered and ready to do a line of coke.

She tries to explain her way out of it but David remains unimpressed.

Leyla then panics when he makes the decision to tell Liam all about her addiction to finally get her the help she clearly needs.
