Emmerdale's Paul Ashdale died a painful death after a van crashed into the barn and caused a terrifying explosion.
Viewers have been speculating for weeks over which character would die on the soap before the death was revealed in tonight's episode.
Fans went into meltdown on social media as the soap villain finally got his comeuppance after months of abusing his son Vinny.
One said: "Good riddance to horrid Paul".
While another wrote: "Thank f*** it was Paul that died".
A third penned: "PAUL IS DEAD OMG".
Actor Reece Dinsdale said he loved playing Paul as he explained: "I loved it. Especially because we tried to make him a fully rounded character and didn’t make him look villainous from the off.
"The secret was to let his badness slowly bleed out. I think it worked."
Speaking about what it was like filming such an explosive stunt, Reece said: "It was painstaking, both in its attention to detail and safety and also adhering to Covid rules at all times.
"But it was great fun though, too. More than your average day at the office!"
Liv, Vinny and Jimmy were also in the hospital after being involved in the accident.
Fans were left on the edge of their seats as they waited to find out which character was going to die.

Paul and Liv were inside the barn as she told the evil character she was going to expose his wicked ways.
In an attempt to keep her quiet, Paul slapped Liv and pushed her to the ground before repeatedly kicking her.

Then, Jimmy drove his van into the barn after the vehicle sped off of the icy roads.
Paul was trapped and Liv tried to save him, but she found it impossible to free him.
The barn then caught fire and as Liv escaped, the barn exploded.
Viewers couldn't stop talking about the dramatic episode as they continued to tweet about it on Twitter.
Another wrote: "Emmerdale was intense tonight".
A fifth penned: "Episodes like tonight’s just prove why they are the best soap".
"That was stressful", wrote another.
