EastEnders aired heartbreaking scenes on Friday night, as Whitney Dean finally realised her husband-to-be Callum Highway was in love with Ben Mitchell.

Whit called off her wedding to Callum this week, jilting him at the alter not long after discovering his affair with Ben.

After a heart-to-heart she realised he was gay, and said she couldn't be with him and force him to be something he wasn't.

On Thursday's episode, Whit walked in on Ben comforting a devastated Callum, and believed something was going on.

She raced to the pub just before the siege, threatening to expose the affair and out Callum in the process. She was stopped in her tracks by killer teen Hunter Owen, who held everyone hostage before accidentally shooting someone.

During Friday's episode, there was devastating scenes as Callum cradled a dying Ben begging him to stay with him.

Whitney was shown on a number of occasions watching them, and it was written all over her face that she knew Callum had genuine feelings for his former flame.

Then, when Hunter forced Whitney to answer the phone to the police officers outside the pub, she appeared to give Ballum, as they are known by fans, her approval of sorts.

Callum told her not to go and that he would take the call instead, fearing she'd get hurt, but Whitney told him to stay.

She said: "It's fine. You stay with Ben, he needs you."

Later on in the episode as a tearful Callum battled to keep Ben awake, Whitney too got emotional as she watched them together.

Viewers took to Twitter over the scenes, believing that Whit realised the truth about Ballum.

One fan said: "Whitney just told Callum to stay with Ben. My heart right now," as another agreed: "Whitney telling Callum to stay with Ben cause she knows he loves him."
