EastEnders viewers will be treated to a week of surprises, shock revelations and explosive clashes as the soap celebrates its 35th anniversary. Whitney Dean (played by Shona McGarty) has been stalked and terrorised by Leo King (Tom Wells) for months and the fallout from their violent confrontation will play out on the Thames as the Queen Vic regulars let loose at the boat party.

Determined to prove his dad’s innocence, Leo obsessively stalked Whitney and confronted her at every chance he could.

Whitney’s abusive relationship with Tony King (Chris Coghill) began when she was just 12 but Leo was convinced she had lied.

In recent scenes of the BBC soap, Whitney was shocked to discover Leo hiding in her house after reporting a break-in to the police.

After forcing her to apologise to his father and telling Queen Vic regulars that she had lied about her abuse, her friends thought Leo had fled the Square for good.

Unbeknownst to Whitney, Leo was, in fact, hiding in her attic watching her as she slept, undressed and tried to carry on with her life.

In an emotional chat with Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), Whitney revealed she had kept a letter Tony sent her before his death.

Alone in the house, Leo turned the living room upside down in a bid to find the note but the police weren’t convinced he was behind the robbery.

Later, Whitney discovered the letter had gone while alone before Leo made his presence known.

Leo confronted Whitney about the note where Tony ‘forgives’ Whitney and revealed his plans to get justice for his father.

After failing to escape, Whitney struggled with Leo before accidentally stabbing him in the chest in an act of self-defence.

However, in upcoming scenes, Whitney turned to Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) as she fears she’ll be blamed for Leo’s murder.

Mick reassures her and is desperate to keep her safe from any further suffering, but could this be the beginning of the pair rediscovering their feelings for one another?

The pub landlord tells Whitney they should head off to the boat party so they both have an alibi.

But when a drunk Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) spots the two together she’s furious and orders the bus to leave without them.

When the pair eventually arrive on the boat, Whitney can’t stop worrying about the state she left Leo in and whether he’ll survive.

Back on the Square, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) arrives home to be confronted by the police.
