But there’s light at the end of the tunnel for Honey next week as Jay informs her that Paul has been convicted for assaulting someone else and is going to prison.

Viewers watched in horror as Paul drugged Honey and led her to an alleyway.

Honey had just enough time to call Jay and leave a message telling him she was in danger.

Viewers were terrified as Paul then began filming Honey and undoing his trousers as she lay helpless on the floor.

Jay arrived just in time to save Honey and supported her when she went to the police to report the vile rapist.

But Honey was later devastated to discover that Paul had been released on bail, even after the police found the video of her that he’d taken on his phone.

DI Ward told Honey there was no evidence of the rape, before explaining they might be able to pursue Paul on an assault charge.

Honey insisted she’d do anything she could in order to make sure Paul got what he deserved, with Jay amazed at her strenghth.

Viewers have been convinced for weeks that Honey and Jay are going to get together as he has supported her in the aftermath of her ordeal.

Sure enough, Emma Barton – who plays Honey – has teased that Jay and Honey are going to strike up a ‘very complicated’ romance.

The actress shared with Metro.co.uk: “It’s really interesting, Jay has been her support after all of this and she has supported him too and helped him to grow up that bit more.

“There are definite complicated feelings there and what I would say is that you can’t help who you fall for.

Speaking about how a romance between Honey and Jay would ruffle her ex Billy’s feathers, she added: “If anything did happen, it would be very complicated and cause quite a bit of drama because she, Jay and Billy have such a history together and poor Billy, he still loves Honey very much."

She added: “It might cause a lot of conflict.”
