We have all had that moment in a job where we have decided ‘oh screw this, I’m done!’ and that’s where Dana Monroe (Barbara Smith) will find herself in EastEnders next week.
Dana is back working at Walford East but it’s not for long as tensions around the Beale family dramas increase.
She ended up sleeping with Peter (Dayle Hudson), an encounter which has left Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) gutted.
And in the wake of what has happened between his ex and his brother, arguments follow – with a fierce showdown between the pair leading to Dana chucking in the towel and quitting her job.
With things between herself and Bobby well and truly dead and buried, Dana’s thoughts will inevitably be turning to the future and her further education.
It was recently confirmed that the popular character is leaving Albert Square, with everything pointing to an uplifting ending which sees Dana spread her wings and head to university.
While it has been confirmed that these will be Barbara’s last scenes in the show, her on screen father Ross Boatman, who plays Harvey, has insisted that there is every possibility that Dana will return.
And fans are already speculating that it could be with a Beale baby in tow.
For now though, Dana and Bobby are far from being on speaking terms and as she cuts another tie through ditching Walford East, healing seems to be way off.
Can they at least restore some kind of friendship before she goes?
Or will Dana be departing under a Bobby shaped cloud (behave, Scottish readers)?
Discussing Dana’s exit along with other names including Stuart, Peter, Lola and Jada, an EastEnders insider told Metro.co.uk: ‘Whenever a new boss comes in there’s always going to be big changes and it’s no different with Chris.
‘He’s been working hard behind the scenes since January and is really planning to shake things up which means saying goodbye to some characters.’
They continued: ‘It’s nothing personal to any of the cast going, it’s simply a creative decision – for big storylines to happen you have to say goodbye people, that’s the nature of soap.
‘Chris has some really big stories planned and viewers will see his stuff starting to air over the summer.
‘He’s really keen to take the show back to its roots, build up the clans again with some big explosive long running stories. It’s an exciting time to be on the show.’
