DISNEY+ has confirmed Star Wars: The Mandalorian season two will drop next month.

The series – which follows a bounty hunter in the aftermath of the fall of the Empire – was an immediate hit with Star Wars fans when it first debuted in the US on the streaming service last year.

UK and European fans followed suit in March this year when Disney+ arrived on their shores, and ever since, they have been desperate for the second season.

Now, Disney+ has finally confirmed that the wait is almost over, sharing a post on it's official social media channels today.

Alongside a picture of the show's logo, it read: "This is the day. New episodes start streaming on Oct 30 on #DisneyPlus #TheMandalorian".

Fans were delighted, with one writing: "Now 2020 is starting to look better."

Another added: "HOLY S***!!!!!!!!! IM HYPED THIS IS THE WAY."

A third was equally excited, writing: "My long drought of Baby Yoda is finally gonna be over!"

Pedro Pascal plays the titular character, who saves The Child – aka Baby Yoda – from the evil clutches of members of the fallen Empire.

Season one ended with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) arriving to claim Baby Yoda, only for Mando to escape just in time, but not before Moff brandished the darksaber.

Giancarlo recently revealed season two will explain the origin of the darksaber in more detail.

The Breaking Bad actor told Deadline Magazine: “You'll see more of the darksaber, you'll get the explanation of this ancient weapon to the modern world, a collapsed world.

“Where did this saber come from and how was it revived? It's a key in our second season, which will be back sooner than later.”

The Mandalorian season two premieres on Disney+ on Friday, October 30.
