Coronation Street 's Daniel Osbourne star Rob Mallard has revealed the hilarious "childish" pranks he plays on co-star Charlotte Jordan.

The actor, 30, joined the cobbles as teacher Daniel in 2016 and only recently his character has had a love triangle with Daisy Midgeley, played by Charlotte, and Nicky Wheatley, played by Kimberly Hart-Simpson.

Speaking exclusively to OK! at the 2022 British Soap Awards, Rob shared a series of behind-the-scenes secrets from the hit ITV soap.

Rob joked: "Everyone's really childish, well, childlike, there's a difference between childish and childlike! Everyone's really childlike I leave loads of like really rude childish notes on the set for Charlie to find mid-scene.

"So if I know that she's got to make something with a prop, I'll put a little rude note in the tea urn or something like that so she finds it during the take – so she's got to keep a straight face during all of that!"

Rob also discussed who he would like to see his character have an on-screen romance with on the cobbles following Daniel's turbulent on-off romance with Daisy.

The actor revealed: "I tell you what would be interesting, is Jenny [Connor] because of Daisy [she is Jenny's niece] and I think that could be interesting to throw that into their relationship!"

Elsewhere during the chat, Rob revealed what career he would do if he wasn't an actor on the hit ITV soap.

Rob revealed: "I should have been a carpenter, I said this during lockdown, I should have been a carpenter! My dad always used to push me to get a trade.

"But I think if you're going to do this job, you can't have a plan B because if you have a plan B you'll do that instead and the fear of not being able to eat or anything is what pushes you to to go further forward.

"So I have thought that's the only thing I can think of is carpenter!"
