Curtis (played by Sam Retford) was finally exposed in Monday night’s episodes of Coronation Street as the residents of Weatherfield discovered he had been lying about his health. Furthermore, Steve (Simon Gregson) was left furious when he discovered the £100,0000 he had been collecting for charity suddenly disappeared and he discovered his future son-in-law could have been behind it. However, with the police now investigating Emma Brooker’s (Alexandra Mardell) partner, it seems he might have to confess he managed to steal the money with the help of Daisy (Charlotte Jordon) on the ITV soap.

At the beginning of Monday night’s episodes of the weeknight serial drama, Steve was preparing to walk his daughter Emma down the aisle.

Little did he know, the bride-to-be was anxiously waiting to see if Curtis would turn up for the wedding as they had come to blows last week.

The only person Emma confided in about her partner’s lies was sister Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) and when Steve said he was worried about where the charity money had gone, the youngster had to reveal the truth.

With Curtis finally turning up at the wedding venue, it seemed he was finally going to do the right thing and be an honest man worthy of Emma.

However, the bride’s father stopped the pair from exchanging their vows as he had already called the police of his future son-in-law.

The troublemaker was interviewed by the authorities, who wanted to know where the charity money had vanished to but Curtis claimed he was innocent.

As the second episode of the evening aired, it became clear there could be a connection between the heartthrob and barmaid Daisy.

Once the police had let him go and he had a chance to speak with Emma, a scene played out in the Rovers which saw Daisy passing comment on his lies.

After hearing what had happened at the wedding, she said: “Well, at least she found out what a lying toe rag he was before it was too late.

“I always knew there was something about him which was too good to be true,” she added before Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) wondered if the police would be able to recover the money.

At this point, Daisy was acting shifty as she swiftly went to help a customer at the bar but it wasn’t long before she got a phone call.

The viewers at home didn’t get to see who was on the other end of the line but the troublemaker could be heard saying she could meet up with whoever it was later.

When she returned to talk to Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), she was quizzed about who she was talking to and she deflected, saying it was a new man she was dating.

However, it could be she was talking to Curtis about their plan and they were going to meet up later to split the money.

Though they’ve never shared a scene together, this could make for the perfect twist as viewers wouldn’t be expecting them to be working together.

Since arriving on the cobbles last year, Daisy has made it very clear she has been interested in money and would do anything to get her hands on it.

Knowing Steve had some money hidden away, she could have lured Curtis to help her steal the funds so they could have it for themselves.

She could have blackmailed the heartthrob after discovering he wasn’t really ill a few months ago and if he didn’t follow through, she would expose him.

This is why Curtis could have agreed to betray his loved ones so his secret would have remained harboured but now everything is out in the open, he could be looking to flee.

Even with the police on his tail, will he decide to leave the country and will Daisy go with him after their successful theft?

The actor who plays Curtis, Sam, spoke to Express.co.uk and other publications about his character’s relationship with Steve.

He said: “In [Curtis’] head, it’s fine but really once you’ve betrayed that trust, it’s very difficult to come back from.

“But he’s never had to do that before because whenever he’s betrayed someone’s trust and he’s been found out he’s left so he’s never had to stick around.

“Steve is another learning platform for him and again, an authentic parental figure that is willing to help someone who is struggling.”

Will Steve ever be able to forgive Curtis for what he did and will Daisy be exposed as the mastermind behind the theft?

Taking to Twitter, viewers have been sharing their thoughts on the storyline, with Ruth writing: “#corrie so Curtis is doing a runner with the charity money.”

Ian posted on the social media platform: “It’s too obvious that Curtis will just run off with the money #corrie.”

Mike added: “Curtis will do a runner with Steve’s money now he’s got Steve’s card #Corrie,” with Shaheen commenting: “Curtis you lying thief.”

“NoSteve’s actually giving Curtis over 100k now seriously? Supposedly for the Charity but clearly it’s never going to see a penny now Curtis has his hands all over it, unfortunately #Corrie,” Grianne shared.

But will viewers turn on Daisy if they find out she has something to do with it?
