Coronation Street fans are gearing up for a week of big storylines and as the first episode ended, all eyes were on Shona Ramsey (played by Julia Goulding).

The beloved character is engaged to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), but his wandering eyes are proving to be an issue.

He has been blackmailed by Natalie Watkins (Cassie Bradley) and although he has no romantic interest in her, it seems Shona can’t forget the time he did stray with Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell).

Tonight, she caught him in a fairly uncompromising position and with their relationship already strained because of Natalie, Shona wasn’t best pleased.

Their frosty relationship turned completely sour when David decided to hold hands with Natalie in what he thought was an innocent way to comfort her.

However, nothing is ever as it seems and Shona immediately thought he was striking up a romance.

While wondering what on earth he was doing, it seemed he didn’t exactly want to explain his actions.

David tried to reason with his “babe”, but Shona raged: “You don’t get to babe me any more, that’s over.”

Her fiancé looked decidedly confused by what she just said and gave her a puzzled look.

“The engagement’s off,” Shona said, with a little less heart than she probably aimed for.

Will they be able to sort out their differences? Or is this is for the couple?

It certainly seems like the drama will continue over the coming week as Natalie is still on-site.

With Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) about to confess to stealing Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money, it seems she is in the right place at the right time.

Will Natalie have a part to play in the revelations that come out?

Elsewhere on Coronation Street, Gail Platt (Helen Worth) made a massive blunder while trying to meet her idol.

She thought she spotted Lorraine Kelly in the holiday park and set about pursuing the host for a quick chat.

Sadly, Gail couldn’t get anywhere near the ITV favourite and tried to take her mind off things with a spot of archery.

However, in a bizarre twist, Gail ended up spearing Lorraine with one of the arrows.

While Lorraine lashed out, a hapless Gail couldn’t help but apologise for what she had done.

Coronation Street airs at 9pm every night this week on ITV.
