Line of Duty season five came to an end earlier this month on BBC One in what was an intense 90-minute finale. Thankfully, the BBC has confirmed that there will be the sixth season of Line of Duty. Not many details surrounding the cast and plot have been revealed about the new series but one character who may make a surprise return is Lisa McQueen, played by Rochenda Sandall.

Will Lisa McQueen return?

Speaking to Digital Spy, Rochenda Sandall hinted that Lisa McQueen may return in Line of Duty season six.

She said there is an “open door” for her character Lisa to return.

Sandall also hinted that Lisa’s fresh start may not be genuine.

Viewers last saw Lisa McQueen lecturing school children on why they should avoid crime.

She was given witness protection and immunity from prosecution after she gave AC-12 intel on the OCG.

However, Lisa was not entirely honest with AC-12, suggesting she may have other intentions.

WHO IS SIMON BANERJEE?

For example, she did not confess that she was involved in orchestrating John Corbett’s (played by Stephen Graham) murder or any other killings by the OCG.

Randall told Digital Spy: “I’m not sure Lisa has turned her life around. I feel, personally, that there’s still a little bit of a lie in there.

“I also don’t think it’s the end for Lisa. I don’t think that she’ll get off scot-free. If you think about it, nobody who’s gone for immunity, in the whole series, has ever got away with it.”

Fellow OCG member, Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) secured a spot at a police training school, so it seems like the OCG will continue to operate.

In the finale, Lisa also lied about Ryan so he could continue working the police force.

WHO WAS GRAEME LIVINGSTON?

However, Sandall suggested it was because she feared for her own life.

Despite crime boss Tommy Hunter (Brain McCardie) from seasons one and two having witness protection and immunity in exchange for intel, he was tracked down and killed by the OCG.

Sandall believes the fact Ryan is now going to become a bent copper himself, means it may not be the end for Lisa overall.

She went on: “Myself and Ryan are the only two OCG members left and I know about his police school… so I don’t think it’s the end. I hope it’s not the end. But I won’t know until the time comes!”

WHO IS THE FOURTH CADDY?

What will happen in Line of Duty season 6?

No plot details have been revealed about Line of Duty season six.

In fact, show writer, creator, and director Jed Mercurio recently revealed on Twitter he had not started writing the script for the new series.

All viewers know so far is that Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar will definitely be back for the new series.

Sandall confessed to Digital Spy that she would love to be killed off in Line of Duty at the hands of The OCG.

She said: “I’d love to do that! Definitely! I watched a lot of the deaths on-set – like I watched Maya [Sondhi], who played Maneet, get killed and bloomin’ heck, it’s ace! I thought, ‘I wish I could have a go at that!’”

The new series will definitely pick up from the major cliffhanger in season five when the mysterious H was discovered to be four Caddys, not one.

Three of the four have been identified, Dot (Craig Parkinson) Derek Hilton (Paul Higgins) and Gill Biggelow (Polly Walker).

Dot and Derek Hilton are both dead and Gill is in witness protection, so who is the fourth H?

Jed Mercurio has resumed to rule out Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) as ‘H’, whose shady past was brought to the surface in the season five finale by DSC Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin).
