There’s never a dull moment in Bachelor Nation. While fans are still reeling over the finale of Bachelor in Paradise and the lasting relationships that show true love is real (we can’t wait to hear Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour’s wedding bells ring, of course), we’re also excited for the next season of The Bachelor to begin. And we know the next season is starring Peter Weber, the fan-favorite pilot who was the second runner-up on Hannah Brown’s Bachelorette season.

We know Weber for his sweet demeanor, his love of airplanes, and the infamous windmill incident that will go down in Bachelor history. And now, it’s his turn at finding true love. Unfortunately, he went through a recent freak accident that resulted in hospitalization and surgery — and fans on Instagram are panicking. Here’s what’s going on.

The new ‘Bachelor’ Peter Weber was just involved in a freak accident

There’s a lot of controversy with Peter Weber becoming the new Bachelor in the first place. While many fans wanted to see Mike Johnson claim the title and get his shot at love, it’s Weber who’ll be taking the spotlight. But his recent involvement in a freak accident almost jeopardized his ability to participate in the show.

According to People, the 27-year-old leading man was playing golf in Costa Rica and split his face open after falling with two cocktail glasses in hand. A source told Radar Online, “He went to step on the cart but fell and split his face open on two cocktail glasses he was carrying.” After the incident, he had to travel two hours to get emergency surgery, and he received 22 stitches in his face during the operation. To top it all off, the incident reportedly occurred just one day prior to the arrival of the women competing for his love.

He’s now recovering and seems to be doing OK

The injury sounds severe, but it seems Weber is doing OK. According to Us Weekly, he had to make the two-hour trek to the hospital to get a specialist to look at the damage. “The reason he traveled for two hours to a hospital was that this specific hospital had a surgeon that specialized in his injuries,” the source mentioned to the publication.

As for production, it seems that’s now back on and everything is going smoothly. Bachelor host Chris Harrison said, “Peter suffered a freak accident. He got a cut on his head, he did get stitches but he’s 100% OK and production is already back underway.” And it sounds like Weber’s looks haven’t been compromised, either, as Harrison added, “He’s still the dashing, handsome pilot we’ve all dreamed of.”

‘Bachelor’ Nation fans are freaking out on his Instagram

Despite hearing that Weber is OK, Bachelor fans are still freaking out on social media. Weber’s last Instagram post was from August, but his followers flocked to the image of him dancing to wish him a speedy recovery. As one fan wrote, “Hope you heal well…what an awful 2 hour ride for treatment it must have been.” Another added, “Hope everything is okay Peter!! You’re amazing. We love you.” Yet another commented, “I seriously hope you’re ok, but can’t let the Frankenstein finds a wife joke go by the wayside.”

We’ll find out soon enough if Weber’s season of The Bachelor will be impacted in any way by the accident. And we’re sure more details regarding the incident are to come, too. We’re wishing Weber a speedy recovery and the best of luck in finding love on the show!
