AMANDA Holden's youngest daughter thought Simon Cowell had split with his long-term partner Lauren Silverman because she had flown to LA.

Hollie, 8, made the suggestion in the most public way possible – during an Instagram live stream to her mum's 1.4 million followers.

But now Amanda has cleared the air and explained why Hollie might have thought that happened.

The Britain's Got Talent judge told The Sun Online: "Hollie last saw Lauren when she was about to board a plane back to America during BGT auditions to go and visit her eldest son and so I can only presume that’s what made her – incorrectly – think it.

"In reality, Lauren and I have even been exchanging photos of our families in lockdown. And Simon’s even learned how to cook!"

Amanda, 47, had been telling fans about how she visited her BGT's boss at his house to play him her NHS charity single when she mentioned Lauren.

Hollie then unexpectedly piped up, saying: "I thought they broke up?" before Amanda speedily replied "Don't be stupid."

A source has since told The Sun Online: “This was just a case of a kid being a kid; getting muddled up and getting things completely wrong.’’

A spokesperson for Simon told MailOnline: "Simon and Lauren are very much still together and are in lockdown together in California."

Simon, 60, and Lauren, 42, who became a couple in 2013, have been spotted running errands together as well as entertaining their son Eric, 6.

Simon previously said being in a stable relationship with Lauren and looking after Eric has made life much more fulfilling.

He told the Daily Star: “Eric is absolutely incredible and so funny. It [being a father] is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Amanda, who pressed her BGT judge's Golden Buzzer for mother-daughter duo Honey and Sammy at the weekend, said: "I did play the album to Simon because Simon was very kind and he invited me to come and sing on Britain's Got Talent live shows, which I still will do whenever that is.

"But I thought I'll take it round and have a cup of tea and see what he thinks. I don't know why I did that – it was one of the most nerve-wracking things I have ever done in the whole of my life."
