BGT act lifts Amanda Holden up with his eyelids

On Saturday Amanda Holden, 52, gifted 11-year-old Britain’s Got Talent contestant Olivia Lynes with her Golden Buzzer following a stunning rendition of Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked.

The youngster’s mother Melissa and her grandmother Sarah were in tears as Olivia introduced herself to the judges.

ITV viewers were then shown footage of Amanda meeting Olivia and inviting her to an audition after Melissa sent in her audition tapes.

Olivia’s voice blew the judges and audience away and she received a standing ovation for her incredible vocals.

Amanda then reached over and pressed the Golden Buzzer which instantly sends Olivia into the finals of the series.

The judge took to the stage in a fitted white dress with matching gloves to congratulate the tearful child up close.

“You were my golden moment, you were the golden moment,” Amanda gushed. “You were absolutely amazing, you nailed that.”

Following the heartwarming segment, viewers took to Twitter claiming it was “fixed”.

Darren Minns fumed: “What’s the point of this show? She’s hand-picked by Amanda, who then gives her a Golden Buzzer, what a fix #BritainsGotTalent.”

Caz echoed: “How predictable getting the gold buzzer from Amanda. Such a setup #BritainsGotTalent.” (sic)

Amanda has now spoken out in the wake of the backlash to MailOnline.

She shared: “So I didn’t know if I was allowed to press it for her because I’d actually met her the day before as part of our golden moments and encouraged her to come down and audition.

“But when I met her I had no idea if she could sing, and then was absolutely blown away by her performance.”

Amanda insisted she could not resist giving Olivia the Golden Buzzer after being dazzled by her voice.

After getting the honour, Olivia said: “I can’t remember everything she said because I was so excited. I ran up to her and hugged her really tightly. When she asked if I would audition on BGT I said of course I would!”

Britian’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 7.45pm on ITV and ITVX.
