Ariela and Biniyam welcomed a healthy baby boy on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. But before the baby was born, the couple had a significant disagreement on whether or not he should be baptized. And after all the back and forth this season, Biniyam and Ariela finally agreed about the baptism.

The ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ couple visited Biniyam’s church

Earlier this season on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Binyam took Ariela to his church to get more information on a potential baptism. Ariela had suggested she wanted to raise their son in her Jewish faith. And she pushed back on the baptism because she didn’t believe in its significance.

“My parents are also not of the same religion,” Ariela said in a confessional. “My father is Jewish, and my mother is Roman Catholic. Honestly, I always felt really uncomfortable with the idea of Christianity because I don’t believe in hell. It’s just so awful to me. I just don’t think that it’s something we should be teaching our son about.”

When Biniyam’s priest suggested Ariela needed to convert for the baby to be baptized, she flatly refused. “I’ve already given up so much and sacrificed so much to be with [Biniyam],” Ariela said. “I have no idea how we’re going to get over this, how we’re going to compromise on such an important topic.”

Biniyam’s family questions Ariela right after her c-section

After Ariela’s c-section, Biniyam’s family came to visit the new baby in her hospital room. Straight away, they told Biniyam to ask Ariela about the baptism.

“Baptism is our culture,” Biniyam told producers. “It happens forty days after birth for boys as part of the Orthodox custom. It’s really hard to convince Ariela of baptism because we have different beliefs. She said she would think about it, and I have given her time. This is more important to me than anything.”

But upon hearing the question, Ariela was annoyed. “I respect their religion,” she said in a confessional.  “I respect their culture, but everyone keeps pushing this on me. Right now is not the time. I’m exhausted, and I’m in pain, and I don’t want to talk about it.”

When Ariela brought the baby home, Biniyam’s elder aunts came to visit. But when they brought up the baptism, they told Ariela that she would not have to convert as the priest suggested.

On ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,’ Ariela and Biniyam reach an agreement

On the recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Ariela sat down with Biniyam down to talk about the baptism. After confirming the baby’s name as Aviel Biniyam Shibre, she told him she’s ready to have their son baptized.

“Well, I was thinking about it, and you guys are going to be so happy if I do this silly thing,” Ariela told Biniyam. “For me, it’s silly, I’m sorry, but it’s silly. But I know it’s so important for you, you know. If you want to baptize the baby, I’m not going to say I’m happy about it, but you can do it.”

Ariela then told producers that she reluctantly agreed to the baptism for Biniyam’s happiness. “Honestly, I’m not comfortable at all with any of this,” she admitted. “I really feel pressured into it, but when you love someone, you do a lot of things to make them happy.”
