A PRO WRESTLER has been sacked after inflicting career-ending injuries on a referee in an unprompted attack.

Josh Bodom's assault on referee Aaren Wilde during Revolution Pro Wrestling's Summer Sizzler event was "not part of the show".

And the organisation have now announced Bodom's indefinite expulsion while Wilde recovers from the blows.

The official posted on Twitter after the episode that his livelihood of overseeing football games has been seriously hit by the neck and shoulder injuries he sustained.

Aaren wrote: "As a result, I have sustained a much-more-serious-than-originally-thought neck and shoulder injury that means I am no longer able to referee.

"I hate the term ‘retire’, so I’ll say this; I am indefinitely unable to referee due to medical restrictions. I truly adored performing as a referee and now, at least for the foreseeable future, I am medically unable to do so.

"For now I am also unable to football referee (my main income) due to the injury."

Fans online have speculated that Bodom was furious after the referee completed a count-to-three because the wrestler hadn't kicked out in time, as he was scripted to do.

In a statement, Revolution Pro condemned their star and confirmed his exit.

It read: "Bodom's actions do not match up with his recollection of events. This has left us with no option but to indefinitely sever ties with him.

"His actions should not and will not be tolerated and we hope that this sends a clear message of that fact."

Some have tried to claim Aaren should have been able to cope with the attack due to the training referees receive for such events.

According to Aaren, the extreme nature of the blows rendered such preparation void, tweeting: "Never once in three-plus years of refereeing have I been injured in a ref bump.

"As it was always agreed prior with all parties as pro wrestling is a performance where the referee is not in physical involvement.

"Sizzler was not an agreed physical involvement. I hope this clarifies.

In a separate message, he added: "Thank you for all the support. Civility and facts will always defeat lies and screaming."
