UNAI EMERY has handed Arsenal a major transfer boost by admitting that his Villarreal side “will have to” sell Yeremy Pino if a suitable offer is received.

The Gunners are believed to have tabled a £33million bid for the Spanish winger.

That is less than half of the release clause inserted into his deal with the LaLiga outfit.

Pino, 19, caught the eye last term with six goals and four assists in 21 starts as helped Emery’s side to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Emery, who replaced Arsene Wenger as manager of Arsenal in 2018 but was sacked a year later, would love to keep the youngster at the club.

However, Villarreal’s economic problems mean that he could be one of several key men to depart before the end of the transfer window.

And Emery handed Arsenal a major boost in their pursuit of Pino while speaking to the media today ahead of their opening game of the season against Valladolid tomorrow.

The Spaniard said: “If an offer arrives for players like Yeremy Pino, then he will have to leave.

“We have a responsibility with the club. It is what it is.”

Arsenal are not the only club that have been monitoring Pino’s progress over recent months.

Liverpool are also keen on signing the star, but the Gunners are the ones that have made the first move.

Mikel Arteta has already spent heavily this summer but is looking to add more firepower to his attack.

Many had expected that Villarreal would be receiving some big offers for stars such as Arnaut Danjuma and Pau Torres this summer.

However, they now face the prospect of losing their talented teen after deals for the above two failed to materialise.
