BRENDAN RODGERS and Scott Parker are the leading contenders to be appointed Tottenham's next permanent manager.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've installed the pair as joint-favourites for the vacant manager position in North London.

Spurs have been without a manager since the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, who's since taken a job with Italian heavyweights Roma.

Caretaker boss Ryan Mason has won two of his three fixtures in charge but remains unlikely to get land the role on a full-time basis at 20/1.

Parker was a distant 14/1 earlier this week but has been hammered into 9/2 after a flurry of activity in the betting market.

The English boss made 50 appearances for Spurs between 2011-13 and has received plaudits despite Fulham's likely relegation from the Premier League.

And he's being backed by Tottenham royalty with striker Dimitar Berbatov publicly giving his approval.

He told Betfair: "Scott Parker is doing a great job in my opinion, despite the relegation battle Fulham are in.

"I know first-hand how good a job he can do, I feel he can help Spurs and take them to the next step."

Meanwhile Rodgers has been there or thereabouts since Jose's departure and is also priced at 9/2 to swap Leicester for London.

But he's on the verge of clinching a top-four finish with the Foxes and says he has no intention of leaving the King Power Stadium.

He said: "Tottenham is a great club but I’m very happy here. I want to continue my work here."

SunSport also understand that landing his signature will cost upwards of £70million given Tottenham would need to offer a four-year contract of £12.5m a year PLUS Leicester's £20m compensation fee.

There's an interesting new contender in the betting with former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte now available at 5/1.

The Italian has just landed the Serie A title with Inter and boasts 61 wins during his 98 matches in charge.

But Conte, who has one year remaining on his contract, has failed to clarify whether he will extend his stay in Milan when speaking on Italian show Le Iene.

Asked about his future, he said: "I'll be staying or leaving Inter? Now we enjoy the celebrations, then we'll meet and decide. We will choose the best destiny for Inter."

Brighton's highly-rated Graham Potter is next at 6/1 with Nuno Espirito Santo, Julen Lopetegui and Ralf Rangnick all available at 9s.

Rafa Benitez is 14/1 while a stunning return for Mauricio Pochettino is offered at 16s – along with previous favourite Maurizio Sarri.
