WWE have stunned fans by splitting up fan-favourite group, The New Day.

In the biggest shock of the company's brand draft, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were sent to RAW while Big E stayed on SmackDown.

The nine-time tag team champions have become one of WWE's most decorated teams since forming in 2014.

Yet for the first time ever, the three members will now compete on separate rosters following the results from Night One of the WWE Draft.

The New Day were teaming together for the first time in months following Woods' recent return from a year out with an Achilles injury.

And there looked further cause for celebration when Woods and Kingston followed up Big E's win over Sheamus by beating Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro for the SmackDown Tag Team titles.

Yet that quickly turned to despair as it was confirmed that Big E would not be joining his New Day pals on RAW.

Former WWE commentator Renee Young tweeted: "C’mon man. You guys broke up the New Day?!? The fugggggg."

Another said: "I haven't been this upset about a split since Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt."

Pat McAfee added: "The New Day had a HELLLLL of a run."

Elsewhere, Lars Sullivan made his long-awaited return to WWE following a year out of action with a knee injury.

The former NXT star showed up to lay out both Matt Riddle and Jeff Hardy after they won a tag team match against The Miz and John Morrison.

Meanwhile, Seth Rollins has switched from the Monday Night Messiah on RAW to become SmackDown's new saviour.
