Suni Lee doesn’t want to tweet through it.
The Team USA gymnast is returning stateside as a three-time Olympic medalist. Her breakthrough performance in the gymnastics individual all-around routine earned her a gold medal, while the team scored silver in the all-around performance.
Lee, though, was especially disappointed in her performance during her uneven bars final on Sunday. After leaving Tokyo with a bronze medal for her routine, she had an interesting — and logical — reason for her performance: social media.
Lee said she spent time too much time on social networking sites after her gold-medal win, and admits to being a little less focused entering the uneven bars final.
“I’m probably going to delete Twitter,” Lee said, via Insider. “Instagram is not as bad because I can’t really see what people say, but Twitter it’s just so easy to see everything. So I’m probably going to have to end up deleting that.”
The 18-year-old world champ said she won’t leave TikTok, though, because that’s her “getaway app.”
Her Twitter account remains active, though, and has seen a huge burst in followers since her gold-medal win in the all-around. The same can be said of her Instagram, where she now has more than 1 million followers.
Lee finished in fifth place in the balance beam final on Tuesday, the last Olympic event in which she would participate. Her three Olympic medals from this year are tied for most among gymnasts, alongside ROC athlete Angelina Melnikova.
All things considered — deleting Twitter? Probably a wise career choice.
