NEYMAR will reportedly be out between six and EIGHT weeks after suffering ankle ligament damage on Sunday.

The Brazilian was on the end of a horror challenge in the closing stages of Paris Saint-Germain's 3-1 win at St Etienne and he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Neymar, 29, will miss nearly two months after leaving the ground on crutches, according to ESPN.

The striker was carried off the pitch on a stretcher at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium following a nasty tackle from Yvann Macon.

Macon's poor challenge trapped Neymar's left ankle and left him writhing in agony.

Thankfully for the former Barcelona man, his injury didn't require a trip to the hospital.

But he did have to make use of a protective boot as he made his way to the team bus.

Neymar took to Instagram shortly after the match, vowing to 'come back better and stronger'.

And he later uploaded a video clip of him wearing a high-tech healing boot.

He said: "Let's recover, unfortunately, these setbacks are part of an athlete's life.

"Now that's what you have, lift your head and let's go. I'll come back better and stronger."

Neymar will miss PSG's final Champions League group stage game against Club Brugge on December 7.

But the French giants have already qualified in second spot and cannot move up or down in Group A.

Although Neymar is set to miss a significant part of Mauricio Pochettino's side's Ligue 1 campaign, the former Tottenham boss will be pleased to learn he should be back by February.

That is when the first legs of the Champions League last 16 ties take place.

PSG will be back in action on Wednesday night, welcoming Nice to the Parc des Princes.
