NEWCASTLE are looking at Club Brugge star Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis in their hunt for a new striker.

Reports indicate the Magpies have made a bid for the £25million-rated forward.

Olivier Giroud and Krzysztof Piatek have been touted as potential arrivals this month as Steve Bruce looks to revamp his ailing attack.

A run of three goals in six games marks a downturn in form after the under-pressure manager had crafted a strong start to life at St James' Park.

In particular, £40m forward Joelinton has failed to hit the ground running while Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle provide underwhelming back-up.

Therefore a bid for Dennis, 22, has been launched according to French Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon.

The Nigerian international signed for Brugge from Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in 2017 and made his mark in this year's Champions League group stage.

Most notably, he hit a brace against Real Madrid in a famous 2-2 draw for the Belgian club.

Along with a fortuitous stumbled opener, Dennis stole possession off Luka Modric and chipped Thibaut Courtois as his side raced into an early lead.

Battling for Giroud and AC Milan's Piatek is reportedly proving tough for Newcastle, with Inter Milan leading the race for the Chelsea outcast.

Meanwhile SunSport understand that Polish striker Piatek is nearing a switch to Tottenham.
